Open Eyes - and Ears - to the Bluesy, Rock Sound of Lost Intransit
It's 10:30 at night - morning for musician.
The late evening air is sweet from an unusually warm March. A gauzy curl of cigarette smoke drifting around the front corner of a South Bay house, leads to one half of a band that successfully fuses the genres of classic rock, blues, metal, and country into one incredible sound.
The other half of this foursome is on the top floor of the house, still tinkering with the notes. All have played together, and with others, for years. You'd recognize the names and you've probably watched at least one of them hop on the stage at a televised ECMA awards
show. Theirs is a friendship borne of common interest and chemistry; the stuff of the most powerful creative collaborations, and, helpful if you're soon to introduce a hometown crowd to your sound.
This is Lost Intransit, a self-financed, self-managed group, and it's bringing its all-original debut CD to The Blue Olive on April 10. Guitarist and business manager Stu MacDougall; keyboardist Huey Lord, formerly of Taxi; drummer Greg Melanson; and, bassist Shawn (Moe) Lester are revved. They have something that people want. Good, original music. Thirteen tracks worth. After a year, and a great deal of money spent recording and mastering, they're ready.
"We have enough original material to do an hour and a half set," says MacDougall, "but, with a limited market for original music, we like to mix it up with classics, like Brandy by Looking Glass."
By passing a blue note to the doorman, you'll access a great party, full of surprises, giveaways, and special guests, including CD session musicians Al Gallant, Jamie Jack, Peter Corfield and Kevin "Beat" Golding.
Life's a journey. We're all in transit. And we all need to get lost in something once in a while, especially when life gives you more questions than answers.
Maybe you'll find some answers in Lost Intransit's music, at The Blue Olive.
