Karim Rashid - International Design Icon
Time Magazine calls him The Most Famous Industrial Designer in all the Americas.
More than 2 million North Americans have thrown rubbish into a waste can he designed for Umbra.
With over 3,000 designs in production, 300 awards, and work in 35 countries, Karim Rashid is not only prolific, he's a legend.
Karim Rashid wants to change the world.
He hopes to contribute to culture and improve every day life by making original design more accessible to people.
He enjoys creating expensive furniture but gets most excited about manhole covers, garbage bins, and coffins.
A self-proclaimed futurist, Karim Rashid doesn't like anything old. In fact, years ago he stopped looking at other people's designs to increase his ability to create something completely new.
Karim Rashid was born in Cairo, raised in London and Ottawa, and now lives in New York City where he travels 200 days of the year.
On November 4th, in between stops in Moscow and Seoul, he will be in Saint John.
